Split Ends

I'm starting to believe split ends are inevitable. I haven't used any direct heat in my hair since April(which was the last time I got a big trim), I barely wear my hair out, I am always in protective styles, moisturize and seal daily, deep condition often and I have dusted my hair a few times since April..yet I still find split ends.

Over the last week or so, I would see really short hairs(----, like that long) on my hands after styling /moisturizing or on my I figured they were the split ends breaking off. Just in case though, I did a Protein treatment on Tuesday(a friend gave me some Nexxus Alloxi Polymedic Emergency Reconstructer, so I used that). My hair felt great afterwards, so I figured I was in the clear.

Yesterday, at work I saw like 5 or 6 short hairs on my shirt and I freaked out.
So, when I got home, I got in front of a really bright light and mirror and spent an hour dusting my hair. I parted my hair in very small sections and dusted the ends and cut off any split end I saw. Then I twisted each section and dusted the length of my hair.
I applied a moisturizing deep conditioner on my dry hair from root to tip, tied my hair up and went to the gym.  When I got home, I washed it out, conditioner washed then applied my leave-ins. I used a lot of moisture because I did a protein treatment the day prior and did not follow up with a moisturizing treatment.

So far...I finally do not see any broken short hairs!

The moral of this blog post is...the ends of our hair are the oldest part of our hair..there will be wear and tear and yes..split ends no matter what you do. So.. Dust least once every 2 months. For now, I will be dusting every month or every 3 weeks until my next touch-up. Don't hold on to damaged ends and if it's really serious..get a trim!

I am still considering buying the Split Ender, but in order to use it..My hair has to be really straight. I barely wear my hair straight so..I don't know.
