My Mission Trip to Haiti

Hey Everyone!!! Hope all of you are doing well!
I am back from my trip and wanted to briefly share my experience with you.

As most of you know, I am Haitian. Well, my parents were born in Haiti, but I was born in America so I guess you can say I am Haitian American.
I have never been to Haiti before this, but knew deep in my heart that when I did go my main purpose was to serve God by helping my brothers and sisters in any way I could.
A few months ago there was a voice in my head telling me it was time to do this mission trip. That voice was God. Within 1 week, I contacted the mission organization, booked my flight and paid for the trip. I was determined and so excited.

The mission trip primarily took place in Titanyen and Minotre, Haiti. I was either painting houses for those displaced from the earthquake, assisting at  Vacation Bible School, putting together school curriculum called "Mwen Kapab(I CAN)" and visiting nearby villages while praying for the families and spreading the word of God.
I went by myself, but met some other GREAT people that either went in groups or went individually like me.
I was blessed with the BEST roommate a person could ask for. I am so thankful for that.

Haiti is such a beautiful country although I only saw a small portion of it.
Everyone was so NICE and welcoming. I honestly felt at home.I pray that God watches over every single person that I came in contact with and those that I didn't. I pray for their health, safety, future, happiness and most importantly that they trust in the Lord.

I had an incredibly experience that I will never forget. I am so grateful for everything that I have and will try not to take it for granted. But one thing I will tell y'all is that my work as a servant of God isn't over. I have plans!

I could write for days about this, but because I don't feel like this blog is the platform for me to do, I will  end with some photos.

God Bless!

At Minotre- LOVE these boys. I miss them already

Fishtail Braid on Single/Box Braids

I can do a cornrow or single braid with my eyes closed, but I don't know how to do a fishtail or french braid.
I must admit that I never tried to learn how to do them or even attempted to do so, but I always loved how they look.
Well today I decided to give the fishtail braid a try. I recall watching a few videos in the past showing how to do them and I surprisingly remembered the technique.

4 Ways to Use Water on Your Hair

Besides the obvious, water can be used in many ways to help keep your hair healthy. OK OK, these may be obvious to some, but I'm going to list them anyway.

1.) Cold Water Rinse- As your final rinse on wash or co-wash day, using cold water will help seal the cuticles giving you shiny and frizz free hair(well for some).

2.) Water Spritz- Helps to waken up the curls, soften your hair or make it more pliable to work with. It can also be used as a moisturizer before sealing with an oil or butter. ( I use distilled water for us)

3.) Get that last bit of product- Have you ever realized you ran out of shampoo or conditioner right before doing your hair? I know I'm not the only one who adds a little water then shake it up and use it until I restock. Well you can do the same thing!

4.) Product Mixes- Water is good base for most spritzes. Some mix with AVJ, glycerin, ACV, conditioner or even oils. Just be careful in terms of the mix breeding bacteria or going bad.(look up various preservatives)

Water is one of the best things for you. You should most definitely make sure you drink the suggested amount daily. I am very grateful that I have access to clean water and water in general. I would hope that those who have the same privilege, don't take it for granted.
