Using Nail Polish to Fix Tarnished Jewelry

I don't purchase many silver or gold fashion jewelry because of the simple fact that they will eventually tarnish.
Now, one way to help slow down the occurrence of tarnishing is to coat the piece of jewelry with some good quality clear nail polish.
For these earrings, it was too late.

So, I had 4 options:
  1. Throw them away
  2. Purchase some silver spray paint and spray the earrings
  3. Purchase some jewelry paint
  4. Use some silver nail polish that I barely wear to paint the earrings
I chose option 4.

I just:
  • Wiped the earrings clean
  • placed them on a piece of paper
  • coated the front once(or twice if necessary) with the silver polish
  • waited for them to dry
  • turned them around to paint the back
  • once dry, I painted the front and back with clear polish

Here are some pics of a few pairs of earrings I'm currently painting.

I'm thinking about painting these different colors as well. We'll see.

Current Obsessions

Well not really obsessions, but things of interest to me at this moment other than hair products and accessories.

Most Recent Purchase

Jewelry- For those that know me, there is no secret that I LOVVVVVEE earrings. I probably have over 150 pairs, and I think I finally reached my limit(even though I just purchased 5 pairs this week). I particularly like large studs, crochet and vintage earrings.
Now that I have enough earrings, I moved on over to necklaces and bracelets. Recently I have been buying a lot of colorful accessories for spring/summer because I tend to wear solid and neutral colors(slowly purchasing more prints). I add that pop of color with my accessories and shoes.
Gym Clothes - Having cute work-out clothes makes me even more motivated to hit the gym. I don't wear sweat pants or any of that because they are never long enough for me, so I usually focus on buying capris, leggings or shorts. As for my tops, they are usually tank tops or fitted tees.

I don't have these particular cases (image taken from google search)

iPhone Covers/Cases- I finally got rid of my Android(that I sometimes miss) and got an iPhone. BTW, am I the last person on the planet to get one?? Anyway, I have the white one and find it boring plus I need protection for the phone, so I just purchased about 5 phone cases. I even got an arm band for the gym.

Nail Polish- I give myself a manicure once a month and paint my nails weekly. I love nail polish and purchase a few every week. Now that it's Spring, I can experiment with some really bright cute colors (then again, I sometimes wore bright colors in the fall/winter to help brighten up my day).
One thing that happens to me all the time is that I would be so happy about a recent nail polish purchase then I would get home and notice I already have a VERY similar color. So I think I will take a picture of my collection and look at it before purchasing any new polishes.

Clothes and Shoes are pretty much necessities and wouldn't be classified as an obsession. Right now I am doing some spring cleaning and donating whatever clothes and shoes I don't wear. So that leaves some room to purchase more! :-D

What are your current "obsessions"?

Small Weekend Haul

Hey Loves! Hope everyone had a great weekend!!
I went back to my parents place and spent some time with them, friends and other family. Then ended the weekend off with a bang at a GREAT church listening to beautiful church hymns and enjoying the service.

Anyway....I received/purchased a few things when I was back home and decided to share it with you all.

So, I am a BzzAgent and received some samples of Fekkai shampoo, conditioner, hair masks and mouse to try/give out. They supplied me with full size bottles of the shampoo and conditioner, but I will most likely try out the sample sizes instead, then if I like the product..I will give away the full size bottles and sample packets.
*I'm only giving it away because I already found my staple products.
*Fekkai products are pretty expensive...I saw these in Target for I think $20 each.

I found an Indian grocery store near my parents place that sold just about all the oils and hair treatments you can think of. I purchased Amla Powder because I will be using that instead of Henna for my pre-poos. I'm only using Amla Powder because I plan on doing a Henna and Indigo treatment next weekend which will turn my hair jet-black. If I continue to do Henna Gloss Pre-poos my hair color will change back to reddish brown and I don't want that.

$2.00 Each

This other store near my parents place sells some CUTE earrings for $1.50 each. So..I purchased about 8 pairs.

I picked up this Oil Blend because I was loving the different oils in contained. I may use this in my Deep Conditioner and I will also use this on my skin(which I already did all weekend). I will only use this on my body..not my hair.

Ingredients: Gin Grow Oil Complex {Safflower Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sesame Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Castor Oil, Ginseng extract (Ren-Shen), Lavender Oil, Avacado Oil} Gin Grow Herbal Complex {Rosemary Extract (Mi-Tieh-Hsang), Sage Extract (Shu-Wei-Tsao), Angelica Archangelica Extract (Bai-Zhi), Licorice Extract (Gan-Cao), Job's Tears Extract (I-Yi-Jen), Junipeus Virginiana Extract (Cedar), Hyacinth Extract, Clove Extract, Balm Mint Extract, Chamomile Extract}, Polysobate 20, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate Vitamin A), Water, Propylene Glycol, Capsicum Annum Oleoresin, Fragrance, Methylaraben, Ehylparben, Proylparaben, Butylparaben, Phenoxyethanol.

Just not feeling the last few ingredients :-/

$5.00 at CVS

My Blow-dryer stopped working and I only use it when I Deep Condition my hair because I have the bonnet hair dryer attachment.
So...I picked this up for $12.00 at Walgreens. Some of the proceeds supposedly go to Breast Cancer research so I chose this one instead.

That's all Folks!

Crochet Earrings

For those who know me, there is no secret that I have a slight obsession with earrings. On my 7 Random things post, it was stated that I wear black A LOT..so in order to spice up my outfits..I accessorize! I do have quite a few necklaces and bracelets..but my true love is earrings.

Anyway...

When I watch YouTube videos, I see quite a few naturals with Crochet Earrings that I adore.
So..I went searching to buy some and saw some pretty cute ones on Etsy but they were kind of expensive. So I was like, let me check out Ebay and see what they have.
I came across a seller who had these 2 earrings and I immediately placed my bid for both.
I ended up winning them for a whopping $2.07 total with free shipping!!
Talk about a good deal! I received them 5 days later (since they are located in Texas) and immediately fell in love with them. I sent the seller an email thanking him for such beautiful earrings and he stated his wife makes them and she didn't think anyone would purchase them...Boy was she wrong. He also stated that they will be selling more. So for anyone interested in Crochet earrings such as these..please feel free to check out this seller. They don't have any up now, but I'm sure they will soon. Plus they have other cute jewerly as well!

Sellers Name: accessorycavern

I can just picture myself wearing these with a big braid-out or even a bun.

Giraffe Earrings

LOL.
So, I purchased some Vintage Hand Painted Giraffe Earrings on Ebay.

Now, you all know I am 6 ft. tall...and Proud! But growing up I hated my height...and would sometimes be called a giraffe. I swear, some kids are evil!!!

Side Note: Kimora Lee Simons went through the saaaame thing and look at her now!

Anyway...because I am so comfortable in the skin I'm in now...I bought these earrings as a way to embrace the "name calling"  I endured as a child.

I think they're cute...but then again, I have very eclectic taste in jewelery(if you haven't noticed by my last earrings post)

Super Easy DIY Earring Holder

The jewelry box/case I currently have doesn't have enough room to store all of my earrings. So I was looking for ways to "store"  some of my earrings and came across this video posted by "itsjudytime". This was so easy to do and only required a shoe box cover and some panty hose. It literally took me less then 5 minutes to do.

I just tie the legs of the "tights" in a bow in the back so I can hang it on a hook. If I don't feel like hanging it up then I would just lean the earring holder on my dresser.
