Then and Now- Shrunken Fro Comparison

My hair DOES NOT grow the "average" 1/2" per month, but I'm still glad to see that It grows. As you can see it isn't that MUCH of a difference, but hey progress is progress.
I plan to wear my hair loose(aka no protective styles) for the remainder of the summer. I hope that I still see progress and that I don't have any set-backs. So far, I haven't had any issues. I'm enjoying my hair and I guess that's what matters most.

6 Months Post BC Length Check and Comparison

Hey hey hey! Hope everyone is doing well. I apologize for my unannounced hiatus, but I just haven't been in the blogging mood.
I just wanted to come on here real quick to document my hair progress thus far.

I am a little over 22 months post relaxer and 6 months post big chop.

These length check photos were taken in March 13, 2013(the left) and September 8, 2013.

3 Month Puff Comparison

Hey Hey Hey!!! I hope you all are having a fabulous week!

Back when I was relaxed, I would do comparison pics every 3-6 months to see if I made any progress. I still suggest that to anyone who thinks their hair isn't growing.
Anyway, I wanted to do a brief puff comparison since that is my signature style.

Length Check: 15.75 Months Post Relaxer

Hey Ladies!

I said I wasn't going to focus on length and I won't. I decided to do a length check to remember where I started later on down the line. Also, when transitioning, I would watch so many length check videos to have an idea of where my hair might be after X amount of months. I know we all have different growth rates and body shapes, but it still helped me.

So...here it is.

Thickness not Length?

I have been on my hair journey since May/June of 2009. The first year of my journey I felt like my hair grew like weeds and I desired more thickness. I'm starting to think that I got what I asked for. When I look at comparison pics, although they aren't that accurate in terms of styling, my hair appears to have gotten thicker rather than longer. I'm perfectly fine with that because that was one of my goals for the year.
My real length check, where I measure the back of my hair is towards the end of December, but here are my infamous progress pics.

Breakage and A Look Back

So, I realized when braiding my hair that some of my nape area has broken off.
It's kind of hard to explain how much and where, but I am quite devastated to say the least.
To try and explain, its on the left side of my head and the length of the broken hair is a little above my collar bone. So, about 3-4 inches broke off. The size of the breakage is about 1 cornrow. So...it's not A LOT, but any breakage to me is disheartening.

The red circle somewhat illustrates where the breakage area is
I know the culprit is the underprocessing of my relaxer and dealing with about 3 different textures in that area.
I'm in repair mode...which I will touch on in another post.
But I know for a fact I can bounce back from this minor set-back.

How do I know? Well simply because I went from this:

June 2009
sorry didn't like my face in this pic. As you can tell my nape area was way above my shoulders!

To This in about 2 Years

So, now I have my edges and nape to worry about. So far, my edges are progressing nicely...I'm more focused on my nape now!

Bun Comparison Pic

Ya'll know me and my comparison pics. I love to see any kind of progress my hair makes because it gives me motivation to keep at this hair journey thing.

The first pic is on 11.24.2010- I believe I was about 8 weeks post and blow-dried my hair straight
Second pic was yesterday, 10.3.2011- 5 weeks post on flat-ironed hair

For some reason, I don't see that MUCH of a difference. But I can notice that the bun is a little thicker now.

Comparison Pic

I think Comparison Pics are a great way to motivate yourself to keep going with your hair journey.
When you feel like your hair isn't growing, take a look back at where you started or where you were this time last year and you will see progress is being made.

I chose pics that looked similar and where my hair was parted the same exact way.

As you can see, my hair was barely touching my shoulder in the first pic, now it is well beyond my shoulder.

* Sorry you can't see the left side of my hair in the pics...but the right side is doing great! haha..no but the left side is doing just fine, I just always pin some hair back or ALLLL of the hair back.
*I am not naked in either of these pics...I just like strapless dresses

Quick Hair Update

Hey Everyone!  Hope you all had a great weekend and a Blessed Mother's Day (although that should be celebrated EVERY DAY).

So, I relaxed on Friday night. My Mom did the back while I did the front. So, when I did the front right section, she did the back left section. My mother was a little afraid of ruining my hair..haha..so the back is a little underprocessed. No biggie though(even though I was a bit angry at the moment).

More on the Relaxer and Flat Ironing Process coming soon.
I did flat-iron on 310 degrees in the back and 285 on the remainder of my hair.
I wanted to do a black rinse, but didn't in fear of ruining my parents shower and sink.

Sorry to rush this post!
Here are some pics. The flash was on, so it made my hair look really brown.

I dusted a little after these pics. But I plan to cut off a half inch or more in 3-4 weeks.
My hair is unintentionally layered, if anyone recalls from a past post, I had breakage in my crown(it was like 1 inch long) which is now past neck length. It's making a lot of progress, but my hair isn't as full as it should be!!! Argghhh!

Still Not...

Arm Pit Length, but I am happy with my hair regardless.

                                         November 4, 2010                     January 28, 2011

I went through my blog and noticed that I "dusted " my ends 3 times since November. I also trimmed off about 1inch after my last touch-up. I may have cut off all of my progress from the last 3 months, but those ends needed to go. I now plan on dusting every 8 weeks and doing search and destroys(where I cut off any split ends) every month. I'm not too worried about reaching Full Arm Pit Length anymore. I just want healthy, thick hair.

To retain as much length as possible, I will do protective styles (buns, french rolls with hair sticks) during the week and if I want to wear my hair down, I will just do braid-outs or bantu-knot outs. No direct heat until my goal is reached!

I Miss My Hair!

As most of you know, I haven't straightened my hair since April! When I got my touch-up I felt like my hair looked thinner, so I was putting my hair through boot-camp to get it where I want it to be. Meaning no heat and protective styling 95% of the time. I was looking back at my pictures and I realized that length really doesn't matter..I actually like how my hair looks when it's shorter and shoulder length actually fits me well. But I still want APL length hair, just because I have a goal...and I always want to meet my goals no matter what they are!

Anyway's...just taking a look back...I can't wait until I actually straighten my hair and see what kind of results I have ! :-D
