Day 2 Hair

Last night, before going to bed, I applied some moisturizer through-out my hair and placed it in a high ponytail with a satin scrunchie then wrapped with a silk scarf.

When I got up, I took the ponytail out, rubbed some oil through my hair then shook it around.

The results- Dropped curls and slightly frizzy hair!
I plan on doing more curly sets, but I need to master day 2 and 3 hair!
If anyone has any tips, let me know!!

  1. One of the RS challengers does curlformers and bantu knots at night to maintain. Just an idea. Day 2 hair is difficult, especially late in a stretch/early transition.

    1. Oh yeah, I def need to invest in some curlformers..those are next on my list. Thanks for the suggestions! Day 2 hair really is difficult, but I'll try to make it work!

  2. During my transition I wore twistouts and braidouts, one thing that worked for me for day 2 hair was doing two loose braids and than I wore a scarf and bonnet at night. The braids helped to keep the curl pattern in tact as much as possible.
    Hope this helps! :)

  3. What do you use when you set your hair? I Have heard serums help. I personally like foam wrapping lotion. You can also try the pineapple method without the bun. I believe ECP has a video on how she does hers.

    1. I just used some Elasta QP Mango Butter to set it. I will try some serum next time! Thanks for the suggestions and I'll check out ECP's video!

  4. I have only tried the pineapple method for one day so I can't really give you my opinions but the tutorials seem really easy. I usually will pin the front two sections back then tuck the back sections under my bonnet.

    1. Do your curls stay in tact when you tuck them in the bonnet? I tried that with a braid-out and my hair was kind of flat the next AM.

  5. Sometimes they are flat but the curls in the back aren't. I still haven't found a perfect way to preserve my textured looks but Im okay with clipping them in different styles. I don't like to wear my hair down too much, straight or wavy. I have been looking into the pineapple method of wrapping my hair up. I'll see how it works.

    1. Oh Okay. You know what, I'm kind of the same way in terms of clipping my hair up. But because I wear my hair up everyday, I kind of want to wear it out at least twice a week.
It's kind of funny how we work so hard to grow our hair long yet we don't like to wear it down often.
