Listening to My Hair

Guess who's back in twists??
You guessed it, Me! haha.

Okay, so I have been wearing my hair out for a little over a month now and I felt like it needed a break.
Last week, I wore my hair in a different style every single day. Because I get bored easily, I needed that kind of change. In my mind it ended up being a little too much manipulation so it was time to do a protective style for a week or 2.  My hair also felt a little dry and twists retain a lot more moisture than my loose hair.

Shrinkage and Minimizing Tangles

I personally don't like the stretched hair look(on myself). I tend to wear my hair in it's shrunken state and have learned a few ways to minimize tangles.

1.) Remove Shed Hair Often- Shed hair causes tangles so I try to get rid of them daily. I typically do so at night when I'm setting my hair. I just gently finger comb and pull out any shed hair I see/feel. My hair is typically well moisturized while doing this to avoid any breakage.

So Far, So Good

As you (may) know, I have decided to wear my hair loose for the Summer. Because I primarily wore my hair in twists/braids for the last three years, I was afraid I would experience breakage or spend too much time on my hair in the AM. Neither of those issues have came up.
I do the L.O.C moisturizing method(Water/AVJ, Shea-butter mix or Coconut Oil, Shea Moisture CES) about twice a week and my hair stays very moisturized. At night, I either put my hair in 6 bantu-knots or 6 twists to keep it semi-stretched. In the morning, if I need to, I will lightly moisturize and seal.  It is actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. I spend 10-15 minutes total(AM &PM) on my hair daily.

My hair styling is simple. Here are a few ways I have been wearing it. Hopefully, with time, I will become more creative when it comes to styling loose hair.
