Regimen Breakdown: Deep Conditioning my Hair

So...After shampooing and towel drying...it's time for me to Deep Condition.

So I squeeze about 2 tablespoons  of ORS Replenishing Conditioner in a Bowl

Then Add about 1 Table Spoon of Aloe Vera Gel (this helps make my new-growth softer)

Then add like a teaspoon of Hemp Oil

Mix..then apply to my hair in sections

Cover with either a Conditioning Cap and just let my body heat warm up my hair overnight

Or if I pre-poo overnight and deep condition the next day, I would apply a plastic cap on my hair for about 1 hour

Then for the last 10 minutes, I will get under my soft bonnet

Then I will Rinse the Deep Conditioner Out of My Hair

After rinsing out all of the Deep Conditioner, I apply Roux Porosity Control Throughout my hair and keep on for 3-4 minutes.

Rinse Out with COOL water....tie my hair back up with a turban then it's time for my last steps.

Stay Tuned...

  1. Thank you for the regimen breakdown series.. I'm a newbie "diyer" so this is extremely helpful.
Question..Do you use the Roux Porosity after every wash? I've only been using it every now and then but wondering if it would be effective to use this more often. thank you.

  2. @Maia- You're welcome. Glad to be of some help!

I use it after each wash because it helps close the cuticle.
But to be honest with you...a cold water rinse after rinsing out the Deep Conditioner can be just as effective.
I originally purchased this to use after my relaxer and because it is such a big bottle I decided to use this for each wash...so far, so good.

  3. Would you mind sharing how you keep track of your regimen? I find that I'm having a hard time keeping track of what products I used, how I use them etc, in a clear and concise way that makes it easy for me to refer back to. For ex, I'm not sure when I last used a protein treatment etc. Do you use a notebook, a spreadsheet etc? thank you

  4. @Olivia- When I first started my hair journey,In MS Word, I typed up my regimen and products, printed it, then hung it up in a place I went to daily. Then each week, I would mark with the date, if I did that step.
I would also write with pen when I relaxed, installed/removed braids and anything relevant to my hair care.

    For Example:

    Week 1- 9/01, 9/14
    Wash
    Deep Condition With Protein
    Leave-ins
    Airdry
    (list products)

    Week 2=09/07, 9/21
    Wash
    Deep Condition with Moisture
    Leave-ins
    Air-dry
    (List Products)

    Put braids in 9.01.2011
    Too Braids out 9.31.2011

    Products:
    blah blah blah

Now because everything is engraved in my head..and I have this blog..I don't do that anymore. The first year of my journey I also had very little products, which I suggest for all newbies.

    Hope this helps!
