Snip Snip

So, after a night out with friends and a few drinks..I pulled out the scissors. I just knew I was ready to Big Chop.

After the first cut, I was like....

I cut off about 3 inches on 1 large twist and the shock of seeing my natural hair shrinkage was astonishing.

Don't mind the spots, it's water from spraying my hair.

So, instead I just cut my bangs and called it a night.

Lesson of the night: DO NOT drink and chop!

The transition continues...

I will reevaluate my decision in 2 months and see how I feel. Hopefully I don't get the urge again.

Shrinkage is real, my sister doesn't understand why i won't just cut it already...but that shrinkage makes me nervous

It sure is and it's something we have to come to terms with....one day. :-)

  2. Ahhhhh I also thought you did it. I agree with serene. Shrinkage is REAL.. but it is something that you can work with. Look at my newest video, you would think I had a lot of hair:

  3. Wow...you had me for a minute! I know the urge can be really powerful.... I did a " Mini Big Chop" in October....so a large portion of my hair is completely natural and the shrinkage I witness in that area will keep me in my lane! I know how you feel...

    1. Lol, I didn't even mean to trick people.
Oh you did? So you know exactly how I feel. Gotta love transitioning, but the urge to have fully natural hair is so strong!

  4. Yes ma'am! It is really difficult saying no to finishing the job, I have gotten better about it but its still there...mocking me when I look in the mirror! I am actually going to try my hand at installing Marley Twists in the next few weeks, I love the way they look and it will give me instant "natural looking" length. The 25th actually marks 11 months of transitioning for me!!! I keep reading your blog and looking at your length and I know I can hang in there for another 16 months or a little longer..

  5. Lol!!! As I read the first sentence, I was thinking please be a good post. All I could think was no drinking and cutting. You seem like you're doing so well during this transition. To be honest I couldn't tell which was the cut pic.

    1. Lol! Haha. I need to hide my shears before nights out with my friends.
Thank you! Handling the textures is nothing, it's the patience of being fully natural that's killing me.
I didnt post any before pics of my bangs, which I should have.
