Listening to My Hair

Guess who's back in twists??
You guessed it, Me! haha.

Okay, so I have been wearing my hair out for a little over a month now and I felt like it needed a break.
Last week, I wore my hair in a different style every single day. Because I get bored easily, I needed that kind of change. In my mind it ended up being a little too much manipulation so it was time to do a protective style for a week or 2.  My hair also felt a little dry and twists retain a lot more moisture than my loose hair.

Weekend Hair

During the week hair (the last pic(bottom right) is my hair twisted for wash day)

Yesterday I twisted my hair which took about 1.5 hours. I used a mixture of shea-butter, aloe-vera gel and vitamin E oil. I like to twist my hair because it helps me assess the strands to see if I suffered from any noticeable breakage. Luckily, I didn't. I'll have these pinned up, as usual, and will moisturize every 2 days.
I plan to keep these in until next Wednesday(going to a concert and I want to look fly, lol).
I slept in my hair the way it's styled in the bottom two pics. I had plans to change the style, but saw it still looked neat and decided to wear it this way.
Although I didn't want to wear twists this Summer, I have to do what's best for my hair.
Hope you have a great week!

  1. Your hair looks great. We do need to listen to our hair. I learnt that the hard way. Now, when my hair needs a wash, I give it to her. I try to keep her in a low manipulative style most of the time, but once in a while, I let her come out and play.

  3. I love your twists. Lol, I'm a little redundant, hunh? I understand what you mean. I had stopped co-washing,but I found myself in need of a mid week moisture boost and co-washing really did the job. I wish I could wear these, my hair is not as thick and I'm sure it would unravel.

That's great that you realized mid-week co-washing is best for your hair.
Luckily you can use added hair for some twists and it'll still look amazing.

    1. Thank you so much!

No, I rarely get tangling when taking them down. I make sure to finger detangle each twist as I take it out. I also make sure my hair is properly moisturized too before removing.
