HOTD: Braid n Curl - Relaxed Hair Transitioning to Natural Hair

Happy Friday!!!
I had my hair in twists all week. I did them larger because I wanted the option of removing them easily to wear my hair loose for the weekend.
So, last night I took my twists out, braided my hair in about 12 braids then rolled the braids all the way up to my scalp.
My hair looks super short..but I need to get used to this kind of shrinkage, right?
Once again, I did not separate or fluff out. As the day proceeds, my hair get's bigger and the curls will probably drop a little..so I will just let her do her thang!

These are the results:

Braid-Out at 30 Weeks Post Relaxer

It's no secret that braid-outs are my style of choice when wearing my hair out. So, after removing my twists, I decided to rock one for the weekend.
I planned on washing my hair this weekend, but opted to wait since I already washed my hair while they were in twists not too long ago. I also didn't feel like going through the whole wash process that takes almost a full day.

Anyway..to achieve my braid-out, I:

Spritzed my hair with my Aloe Vera Juice mix to make my hair damp, but not wet then braided my hair in about 15 single plaits.

After putting my hair in the plaits, I then applied coconut oil to the length of my hair.
I did these on Friday night and since I was only running errands and lounging on Saturday, I kept them in all day.
This is how I wore my hair on Saturday. Underneath that beanie is a plastic cap and satin scarf.

Braid-Out @ 26 Weeks Post Relaxer

Y'all already know that my go-to out style is a braid-out.

So..I took my twists out on Friday night, finger detangled, spritzed hair with my AVJ mix, sealed with Shea-butter mixed with coconut oil then braided my hair up to prepare for the braid-out.

I put some satin rollers on the ends so the braid-out wouldn't have straight ends

I kept the braids in all day Saturday(wore a beanie during the day) and took them out for Saturday night.

I ended up rebraiding at the end of the night and wore a braid-out Sunday(today) as well. I plan on bunning for the remainder of the week.

I have some more pics, but my eyebrows look even more jacked than the first pic (lol) and my forehead looked super shiny(researching natural ways to beat the shine!)!

Twists on Relaxed Hair- Real Hair

I have been wearing my hair in a braid n' curl for the past 2 weeks..with some bunning in-between, but I wanted a little break.

So, I decided to do some twists again. This time, it only took me about 1.5 hours. It was completely spur of the moment, but I think I will keep them in for about 2 weeks.
It makes getting ready in the morning sooo much easier!

Regimen:
Oil Scalp twice a week
Spritz hair daily with Aloe Vera Mix (Aloe Vera, Glycerin, Oils)
Wrap nightly
That's about it!

Braid n' Curl

I haven't worn my hair out in a while, so I decided to do a braid n curl.

Last Night- I just spritzed my hair with my Aloe Vera Mix, applied a little Cantu Shea Butter leave in and did about 10 plaits. After braiding, I rolled up each braid with some satin rollers.

This Morning- I applied Safflower Oil to each braid, unbraided and lightly fluffed out. I didn't want my hair to be frizzy or mess up the curls!

My hair looks super short, but I like it.

LOOK AT THAT!!

Weekend Wrap Up- The Braids Aftermath

It took me 5.5 hours to remove all of my braids and this is half of the shed hair I was left with. Before removing my braids, I misted them with water mixed with Aloe Vera Juice. As I took out each braid out, I gently finger detangled my hair to remove all shed hair. Then when all of the braids were out, I sprayed my hair with the Aloe Vera Juice and Water then thoroughly detangled with a wide tooth comb.

After detangling each section, I put my hair in about 10 braids and shampooed my hair in those same braids.
I applied diluted shampoo to my scalp, massaged it in and let the water run down my hair. Then I applied some conditioner to the braids, let it sit for about 3 minutes then rinsed.

I then removed each braid, applied my Deep Conditioner (Lekair Cholesterol) then twisted each section. Put my shower cap on and left it on for about 1 hour.

While rinsing the DC out in the shower, I removed the twists and rinsed my hair loose. I then  applied Roux Porosity Control to my hair, let it sit for about 3 minutes then rinsed.
Towel Dried my hair, applied leave-ins and let air dry for about 30 minutes

Then I applied my Shea-Aloe Mix (Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Gel, Essential Oils, Avocado Oil) to my hair in sections, then put about 8-10 braids in my hair. I applied silk rollers to the ends to my braid-out wouldn't have straight ends.

Later on that night, I sprayed some Hot 6 Oil to my hair, removed the braids.  fluffed the braids out and was left with this........

I am now twisting my hair, so I can keep those twists in a bun for the week. This is the bottom 3 rows.

Braid-Out on Un-Washed Hair

Yeah...the title makes me cringe too. When I took my braids out, I just didn't feel like doing my whole wash routine..so I opted for a braid out on un-washed hair.

I just  sprayed my hair with my aloe vera mix, detangled, braided about 8 braids and sealed with oil

                                                                          Before

Then when I was ready to go out, I just took the braids out. I wish I would have put some rollers on the ends...but I knew not to expect great results.

Today's Hair

You guessed it!!!

My "signature" braid-out. I wear buns all week long and on Friday's and Saturday's I usually rock a braid out.

Just Another Braid-out

Now ya'll know braid-outs are my style of choice. I haven't done one in a while, but decided to do one tonight.

I did this on freshly washed detangled hair.

  • Did 12 braids in total
  • 6 on each side
  • Added EVOO to each section then braided
  • added a satin roller to ends of each braid
  • Let dry for 3 hours
  • then before taking out added a little more EVOO to each braid
  •  I separated each section but not too much because I don't like my hair too big..but it gets a little biggger through-out the night

Braid-Out Gone Wrong

So in continuation of my last post, after I co-washed..I air-dried in 6 braids. I put some silk rollers on the ends and rolled them all the way up, similar to doing a roller-set.

In the morning I took the rollers out and un-braided my hair. I was sooo not feeling the style.
One side was longer then the other, it was super short because of how I rolled it...it just didn't look cute on me..
See below for example

It was like 7:30 and I had to leave to work..so I was in a rush
I just sprayed my edges with moisturizer..added some Eco-Styler Gel...then clipped my hair back with an EZ-Comb.
On my way to work, I had the front of my hair wrapped with a scarf to lay down my edges.
I like this look a little better.

No Heat Until the End of December

I said this many times, but I have not used any direct heat in my hair since April 2nd. That's a long time for me because the first year of my hair journey, I would get Dominican Blow-outs every other month. Now that I think of it, that may have hindered my journey. In April, when I saw how my hair looked slightly thin..I decided to give up direct heat and the hair salon for a while until I gain my thickness back.

It's hard to wear your hair straight without the use of heat, so for now..I can only rely on Bantu-Knot Outs and Braid-Outs when I want to wear my hair down.

So for today...I am wearing a braid-out done with 2 Cornrows.
After air-drying my hair yesterday..I just put a little moisturizer in my hair...then put some Shea-butter mixed with Coconut Oil in my hand/fingers while I braided my hair...

In the morning, I just added a little straight coconut oil to my braids then un-braided....

Here's a Side Shot-
